In the corner of a stone workshop there was a stone piece standing there for years, a leftover from a memorial. I had been asking the owner go give it to me and after about one year he agreed.
A favorite song of mine is “Roufinka bolna legnala”, one of the finest example of the folklore of the Rhodopes ethnographic region. I strongly wanted to re-create this song out of stone and during the whole process of making it I was having the curved silhouettes of the Rhodopa Mountain spreading before my eyes – soft, splendid, peaceful. As a matter of fact, this is my personal stone - it's been with me ever since, wherever I may live.
